Skins, fresh tracks, and the silence of the summits: two ski touring weekends are being prepared with the Basalte guides, between January and March 2027. The group is going into winter mode.

Two formats depending on your level:

  • Beginner — discover ski touring with attentive supervision: avalanche safety initiation, 600 to 800 m of elevation gain.
  • Intermediate to advanced — tackle serious elevation: 1,000 m planned for Saturday, snow science, BERA interpretation, group leadership.

From Friday 6 pm to Sunday 5 pm: two days of hiking, mountain picnics, convivial dinners, and a late checkout to finish smoothly. Dates and location will be revealed in September: pre-register to know them 48 hours before everyone else, without obligation.

Frequently asked questions

What level of skiing do I need?

You need to be able to ski downhill already: it's ski touring you're discovering, not skiing itself. The Beginner format starts from scratch on the touring side (skins, kick turns, safety) with 600 to 800m of climbing on Saturday, at the group's pace. The Intermediate to advanced format is for those who have already toured: 1,000m of climbing, snow science and reading the avalanche bulletin on the programme. If you're unsure which to pick, drop us a line and we'll help you choose.

Do I need to bring my own gear?

For the Intermediate to advanced format, you ideally bring your own touring gear (skis, skins, ski crampons). For the Beginner format, no need to kit yourself out blind: the on-site rental options and the full kit list (including transceiver-shovel-probe safety gear) are sent to you with the announcement of the dates and location. Those on the waiting list receive it all first.

When will we know the dates and location?

Both weekends will take place between January and March 2027; the dates and location are revealed in September. Those on the waiting list are notified 48 hours before everyone else, with the spots that come with it.

What does pre-registering commit me to?

Nothing at all. You leave your first name, email and level; we give you a first heads-up when the dates land, and you decide then.

Have you experienced this stay?

Share your feelings, even if they're honest and nuanced: it guides future adventurers and earns you Club points.
